For special education teachers and case managers
Less time on paperwork. More time with students.
SchoolSmith is a set of practical tools for the paperwork side of special education: IEP accommodations, service-minute logging, and parent communication. They're built around how case managers actually work.
Tools
Each tool targets a task that eats into the school day.
- In pilot
Service Minute Tracker
Log service minutes as you deliver them and see at a glance where each caseload stands against IEP-required minutes.
- In pilot
IEP Accommodation Lesson Tool
Turn a student's listed accommodations into concrete, lesson-ready supports that general education teachers can actually use.
- In pilot
Parent Communication Tool
Draft clear, family-friendly updates and meeting notes, without the jargon, in less time.
About
SchoolSmith is built by Matt Smith, a working special education case manager in Colorado. Every tool here started as a problem from his own caseload: minutes that had to be tracked, accommodations that had to reach the classroom, and families who deserved clearer updates.
Because it's built from inside the job, the tools are designed to fit real school days rather than add one more system to learn.
Our approach to student data
Student information deserves care. These are the commitments we can make today:
- This website collects nothing about you or your students. There are no sign-ups, forms, tracking cookies, or analytics on this site.
- We will never sell student data or use it for advertising.
- Ask us anything. If you have questions about how a tool handles information, email matt@schoolsmith.org and you'll get a direct answer from the person building it.
We'll add more detail here as the tools grow. We'll only describe reviews or safeguards after they're in place.
Want to see it in action?
We'll walk you through the tools and hear what your caseload needs.
